Getting there
- Bari (BRI) and Brindisi (BDS) are the main airports, both convenient for the Valle d'Itria.
- Brindisi is closer for Salento.
- A car is essential for most villas.
For groups
- Masserie are well suited to large groups and celebrations.
- Trulli bedrooms can be compact. Worth checking for couples who want space.
- Beaches are a drive from many countryside villas. Plan accordingly.
Local tips
- Mid-August (around Ferragosto, August 15) is very busy with Italian vacationers.
- Ask whether the villa's pool is saltwater or chlorine, and about shade.
- Many coastal restaurants are booked out on summer weekends.
- Plan to combine the Valle d'Itria with a few nights in Lecce.
