Pool safety
Fences and alarms aren't universal in European villas. For families with young children, we look for fenced pools or villas that can add temporary fencing.

Layout and stairs
Hillside villas can involve a lot of steps, especially on the Amalfi Coast and in the Greek islands. A ground-floor bedroom may matter for grandparents; bedrooms close together may matter for young children.

Location
An isolated farmhouse is peaceful, but a short drive to a village with a pharmacy, gelato and a playground makes days easier. Teenagers may value a walkable town above everything else.

Are villas suitable for toddlers?
Many are, with the right checks. Pool fencing, steep stairs, balconies and terraces all need consideration. Tell us your children's ages and we'll only suggest villas that make sense.
Which destinations are easiest with young children?
Places with short airport transfers, gentle beaches and good local amenities tend to work best, such as Mallorca, the Algarve, Corfu and parts of Tuscany. It depends on what your family enjoys.
Can the villa provide cots and high chairs?
Often, yes, sometimes for a small charge. We'll confirm availability with the villa before you book.
